Mit nur rund 45 Minuten zählt diese Folge nicht gerade zu den längsten der beliebten Hörspielreihe und so springt man auch direkt rein in das Geschehen. Durch die unerwartete Konkurrenz neugierig gemacht versuchen die drei Detektive Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw und Bob Andrews dem Geheimnis der Truhe auf die Spur zu kommen, welche schnell zu einem Schiff führt, das vor mehr als 100 Jahren an der Küste Kaliforniens gesunken ist. Dieser behauptet, der rechtmäßige Eigentümer der Kiste zu sein und setzt alles daran, sie in seinen Besitz zu bekommen. Die drei ? gelangen in den Besitz einer geheimnisvollen Truhe, die jedoch auch die Aufmerksamkeit eines zwielichtigen Fremden namens Java-Jim auf sich zieht. ![]()
